PNWU-COM Welcomes Fourth Class of Medical Students
Butler-Haney Hall buzzed with excitement as the Class of 2015 started orientation on August 1, 2011. They are the fourth class of medical students to begin their studies at PNWU. Today, 300 medical students are training locally and regionally, preparing to practice medicine in rural and underserved communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The class of 75 students spent orientation participating in various welcome events including an all-campus barbecue, a community fair, various team-building activities, and formal introductions to faculty and staff. The new students reviewed PNWU student policies, met with advisors, and explored the campus.
Orientation week culminated with a day-long trip touring the Yakima Valley; visiting dairies, farms, and orchards; experiencing rural communities; and learning about the underserved in this region.
Classes began Friday, August 5, with faculty encouraging students to crack their textbooks in anticipation. Welcome med students!
