Lloyd Butler, DO
Interim President, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
Yakima, WA
Often accused of believing everything is possible, Dr. Lloyd Butler is one of the proud founders and developers of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. Besides helping start the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Butler has served as PNWU’s founding board chair. Prior to his work with PNWU, Dr. Butler had a successful medical practice in the lower Yakima Valley for 32 years before retiring in 2004. While practicing, Dr. Butler recalls that he frequently had a medical student or two training with him for their clinical experiences. As a matter of fact, PNWU-COM’s Dean, Robyn Phillips-Madson, DO rotated through Sunnyside Community Hospital where Dr. Butler practiced. Dr. Butler was privileged to deliver over 2,000 babies while practicing in a rural hospital. Dr. Butler is committed to his community and has served on various volunteer boards and foundations. He is a proud member of the American Osteopathic Association, Washington Osteopathic Medical Association, and the Osteopathic Foundation of Central Washington. He is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Butler and his wife, Gloria, have often stated that “being a part of PNWU will be the greatest thing they do in their lives.” Dr. Butler and Gloria enjoy spending time with their four grown sons and several grandchildren.
