Welcome to Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. I am honored to be serving as president of PNWU, a vibrant, developing, health care focused university in beautiful Yakima, Washington. The university opened in 2005 and is situated on a 43-acre campus. The College of Osteopathic Medicine matriculated its first class of medical students in 2008 and will graduate this inaugural class May 12, 2012.

PNWU is a private, nonprofit university led by a very talented, visionary, and dedicated board of trustees and administrative team. We enjoy the total and very generous support of our community. We have an outstanding faculty and staff, great facilities, and an even more impressive student body. We select most of our students from the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska). The intelligence, optimism, and positive energy of our very committed student doctors are our greatest asset.

PNWU’s mission is to train compassionate and competent osteopathic physicians (and, someday, other health care providers) to fill the health care needs in the Pacific Northwest, especially in rural and underserved areas. Our robust and dynamic strategic planning process has guided us toward preparation for future growth and success. Our current plans include completing Phase II of Butler-Haney Hall. This will include two 150-seat auditoriums and additional faculty and staff offices. We also hope to complete our new sports field by next summer. Our culture of teamwork, transparency, and keeping the success of our students at the forefront makes working at PNWU a positive experience.

Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you find it both helpful and informative and welcome you to visit our campus and experience the excitement and high energy of this young institution.
