Pat Temple
Patricia Wade Temple graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BA in English literature in 1962. She was active in student government and sports while holding three jobs; and a member of Pi Beta Phi, where she was vice president. Shortly before graduation, she met a young USNA graduate, then an aviator. They married in 1962 and have two grown sons and five grandchildren.
Her husband resigned from the Navy after a tour in Vietnam in 1968. From that point, he and Pat worked together in various family-owned businesses. They relocated often, ending up in Yakima, where they owned/operated together a regional railroad, Washington Central. After selling this company and divorcing, Pat remained in Yakima where she continues to be involved in the family businesses with her older son. Fortunately, this allows her time to be involved with nonprofit organizations in the Yakima Valley. These roles have included president of the Capitol Theatre Board and its support group, Back Stage; Memorial Hospital Foundation Board; Florence Wight Hospital Guild; Heritage University Board; YWCA Board; Yakima Country Club Ladies Division Board; and now with Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. Of particular pride is Pat's participation as an original member of the Memorial Foundation Board. The group undertook the Children's Village project which has become a national icon demonstrating the best services for special needs children.
Because of her tremendous support of PNWU, Pat was honored with the first "President's Gala Tribute" to highlight her impact to PNWU and to our community by making a difference.
